MCAD Excellence in Masonry
2007 Design Awards Project Registration
The
Architectural Awards Program will give recognition to architects for
accomplishment in Masonry Design, and give continuing motivation to architects
to strive for excellence in design with masonry.
The Masonry Institute of Dayton is a coalition of laborer unions, mason
contractors, bricklayers unions, brick manufacturers and distributors, cement
and lime makers, and many other ancillary masonry interests in the state.
ELIGIBILITY
1. Any registered architect or engineer,
contractor, or masonry supplier may enter projects.
2. Projects must be predominately masonry.
3. Architectural projects should be constructed and completed during the period
January,
2006 through July, 2007.
4. Projects must be located in the state of Ohio and situated in the following
counties: Montgomery, Greene, Preble, Darke, Miami, Shelby, Clark, Champaign,
Logan, Highland, and Clinton. If a building is located outside the 11
county area, however was designed by a local architect ( in the 11 county area)
and constructed by a MCAD (Mason Contractors Association of Dayton) member, the
building may be submitted.
5. Projects must be built with union masonry labor.
6. Projects can be re-entered if they have not previously won the Excellence in
Masonry
Award.
7. We will once again be accepting entries on tile, terrazzo, marble, and glass
block projects.
If you have any designs which utilize these materials, we
would like to encourage you to
enter those projects.
REGISTRATION
1. Complete the registration
form below.
2. Submit in writing why masonry was used as a building material.
3. There is no registration cost.
4. Submit the project with a minimum of 10 outside and 5 inside digital
photographs for PC.
Also submit a typical wall section and any relevant details
for masonry design and
elevations.
5. Registration form must be received no later than September 16, 2007.
6. All material submitted becomes the property of the Masonry Institute of
Dayton and may
be used to publicize creative masonry designs. Therefore,
please retain copies of all
material submitted.

PRESENTATION OF AWARDS
The Awards Presentation will take place on the
evening of Friday, December 7, 2007.
No public announcements of
the winners will be made prior to the Awards Presentation.
